We March Till We Die

We March Till We Die

He was much braver, and favored of others
Whilst sat in his shadow, was the envy of brothers
No one would know, that he was the weakest
His brother will flourish, his soul was the secret

His brother would dream, of being the strongest,
His soul is most pure, it reaches the farthest
He writes about tales, that haven't yet happened
With thoughts running wild, the brave one is angered

He opens the paper, and studies the pages
One ad stands out, as it has through the ages
Come to the legion, we ask as you may,
Sign up and fight, fight for us today

The young one had read, of the french and their tales,
There's honor to have, to run on lost trails
He packs up his backs, and walks out the door,
His brother looks on, with tears full of scorn,

Neither would know, that he wouldn't return,
His brother will cry, whilst the fire will burn
United with others, he steps off the truck,
They are all nervous, dependent on luck

The legion was harsh, the sting was the coldest,
You had to be tough, but not be the boldest
You work as a team, and you study to fight,
This is your family now, to think ill is not right

They lay in the desert, and look at the stars,
With glory to come, but invisible scars
United as one, the whole army walks
They smile as they sing, they cry as they talk

The bullets fly by, and they drop one by one
Soon there is left, of all only one
The brother he sits, whilst he thinks and he cries,
The last ever letter, to his brother he writes,

You see me with envy, my brother I know you
But try to forgive me, I will always love you,
My colleagues are dead, they have all fallen,
But one still exists, with a love that is golden,

I know you'll forgive me, as your hear is true,
This is my letter, I hope it meets you
He folds up the paper, and gives it a kiss
The blood on his face, it feels like true bliss,

He runs at the army, knowing his fate,
The bullets fly by, filled full of hate.
As he lays there, with a smile cold as ice,
The song will live on, we march till we die.
